“Currently the condition in the upstream area of Cisadane River is relatively good. However, if no efforts were done to maintain the watershed area, will the condition remain the same?” Said Campaign Manager of the Indonesian Institute for Forest and Environment (RMI), Mardha Tillah, to teen audiences attending the Biodiversity Workshop in Bogor on last Wednesday, 22 May 2013.
"With the rapid development of settlement, sand exploitation, and deforestation in the upstream area of Cisadane River, the area may be heavily damaged ten years from now,” said Tilla. The audience, of one day workshop about environmental damage and its effect to children’s rights, appeared to agree with the statement. They even added that highway construction and other infrastructure construction are degrading the environmental condition.
